Default Compresssion Difference

What is the compression on the stock B16B pistons (Civic Type R) and B18C (JDM Integra Type R)?

I believe both are 11:1 when in their correct engine
the CTR pistons in the B16B engine = 11:1
the JDM pistons in the B18C egnine = 11:1

If you put the CTR pistons in the B18C engine you get 12.5:1 ? (someone will have to confirm)

this is because you are compressing more cylinder volume of air (1.8L instead of 1.6L) in to the same space when it's compressed.

Default Re: Compresssion Difference - Direct replacement?

ALso I'd like to know are the CTR pistons direct replacement for ITR ones (with the obvious compression increase, ignoring extra fuel etc that would be needed).

DO these pistons run OK with say JUN III cams (I presume they do if JUN IIIs can be used in a CTR). Assuming they do I would assume they would work OK with a thicker gasket to reduce comp ratio (say to 12:1).

Anyone see any problems with my assumptions?

the compression ratio with the ctrs stock will be right at 12:1. Jun 3s will work with the ctrs. Im not sure if they will work with ctrs and a mugen thin head gasket though(12.5:1 cr) for clearance reasons

CTR pistons in B16B will give you 10.8 compression.

So CTR pistons in a B18C Type R with standard give 12.:1 compression and will clear JUN III cams.

Is anything else needed to add these pistons? Custom Rods?

You shouldn't need anything else to put in the pistons, but you will need springs and things for the cams. Try Kent as they have springs, retainers, pulleys, and cams. You will also have to lock the VTEC and check valve to piston clearance with those cams.

ok.. i have CTR piston and took one layer gasket out, and my compression is run around 11.6-8 (high eleven)... but in the picture.. the piston on the top looks higher than the one on the bottom?

Right..... CTR pistons in a B18C5 is right around 11.3 with stock head gasket, with a geesr head it will be 11.8 with stock head gasket. Do a search, there is a link that will calculate different pistons/blocks to give you the compression ratio....and yes it should be fine with Jun III's

piston on top = ctr
piston on the bottom = jdm itr

No. CTR piston in a b18c with b16a head and stock gasket will be 12:1.

CTR pistons in a b18c1 engine=12:3:1
CTR pistons in a b18c5 or b18c1/Pr3 head=12:1.

and CTR pistons work with JUN III in either a b18c5 or c1. Im currently running that setup in a b18c1/b16a head

How dangerous is it to run 12.1:1 compression for a daily driver and keep in mind I like to bang on my car .... are the CTR pistons a direct replacement for stock ITR ones without any extra mods to the bottom end or top end?
