Default Do You need to remove Intake Manifold to install knock sensor?

My friends knock sensor broke, and i went under the car to try and remove the old one, but couldn't, there was hardly any room to do anything. The only way i can think of to install the knock sensor is to remove intake manifold, But is there a way to install it without having to remove Intake Manifold, any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance for any input. BTW his car is 96 with a Y8

You could get it from either the bottom or the top (i find the top easiest). Youll need a deep 1/2 inch 25mm (or it might be 26mm) socket and a 1/2inch ratchet (i recommend any ratchet with 10* on it). As long as you break it loose it will go the rest by hand. No reason to pull the intake manifold.

Removing the intake manifold isn't necessary. Just depends on what tools you have, how much patience, and how small your hands are.
