Default Engine removal question

Hi all, this is probably a stupid question, but I just wanted to know if it's possible to remove the engine (D15) from a 5th gen civic WITHOUT removing the transmission (5spd).
Thanks in advance!

......(Removing D15 from 93 Civic, replacing with D16y7 out of 00 Civic.....replacing D16y7 with B18C )

No, not really. It would be much more difficult to try this (use of jacks or something to hold it up) than it would be to take out the both as one piece.

You sure can but its a little difficult cause of the clutch. Its just easier to remove the whole thing as a unit. And a lot less frustration. I am assuming its a manual right?

x2 and you have to unplug the harness anways, so just pull it in one piece.

oh yeah....lol. Me and the old man did this swap a few months ago, and I forgot to follow up on this. I told him what you guys had said, and he thought he'd go ahead and try it anyway. Well, it was a bastard to get it out, but it came. Getting it back in was a different story. theres really not a lot of room to get the input shaft aligned into the flywheel. Turns out it was so goddamn hard to get properly mated we just pulled the axle out of the knuckle on the drivers side, and unbolted the mounts so it could be lowered to the floor where we mated them together and easily put them back in from underneath.

Yep, that's probably the best reasoning for dropping the trans at the same time. Good job though!

I did it when I swapped my car, so its not impossible, its just a matter of wiggling and positioning of the picker. It took me 10 minutes tops to actually remove it with the help of a good friend. Good luck!
