Rocket Motorsports M22
Intake Lift 12mm / Duration 236
Exhaust Lift 12mm / Duration 226
Crower 402
Int-237 dur. / 11.8mm lift
Exh-228 dur. / 11.8mm lift
Number wise it does not seem to be a huge difference, however the difference in price is about $300-350 dollars. I appreciate all input on the subject, from rocket and crower owners alike.
What do you suggest I go with from your experiences? As with all products, some things are too good to be true, so I am trying to figure that out here with the knowledgeable people in the All Motor area.

We can't tell you anything if we don't know your setup. Let me know what it is and I'll help you out.
Also talk to outtacontrolsol on here. He is local to you and has experience with Rocket cams so you can talk to someone in real life about one of the companies mentioned. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone local with Crowers.

Motor plans are stock gsr head (no porting), supertech dual valve springs, crower chromoly retainers, supertech high comp. valves (stock size/flat face).
Block is gsr block, stock or close to stock bore, 11.5 CR pistons, shotpeened gsr stock rods, stock gsr crank (most likely balanced)
OEM honda...or Mugen headgasket

I'd stick with stock valves since you'll be replacing the pistons anyways. You can get 11.5:1 with OEM pistons and a GSR head easily on a stock head gasket.
Honestly, I think M22X's will make more power than Crowers, and I'm not saying that just because I'm a dealer. If you run Supertech springs, then I'd also run Supertech retainers. Or the RM SL valve train.

Crower Chromoly, car won't be used for just a few runs down the strip, titanium = yucka for my application, for race cars, good as they can benefit. OEM valveguides and Chromoly retainers =
I will never run bronze guides or titanium retainers in any build unless its a trailered track car. I didnt clarity what build would be for, but mostly weekly events of autox through the season.
What is your price on the rocket M22x's? Valves will be supertech, because head was bare I bought everything new...and better valves from supertech are cheaper than new oem. lol I can see your point though, if I already owned them the if it aint broke don't fix it comes into play, I agree.

I don't see why you wouldn't run ti retainers. Tons of people run them daily without problems. Lots run them on track without problems. If you're not going to run ti retainers, and you're running Supertech springs, then I would run the Supertech aluminum retainers.

I had a B18C1 bottom , stock B16 head with CTR pistons, 4-1 header , 2000 B16 intake maifold, I tuned with Uberdata made 190 whp on a dynojet at 8700 rpm with M22 cams, I had tryed Toda B's , Blox HSL , JUN 2 , they were close in peak , but the M22's had a better overall graph and felt more fun. I also dynoed the same M22x cams in my B20vtec against Blox HSL , Blueprint stg 2 , The M22's came out on top again. I have since replace them with M24x cams in my B20 vtec. I am not saying the are the best for your setup , but in my personal testing they are awsome cams

Good to hear, so far I have yet to hear anything bad about rocket products.

I have been using and selling Rocket Motorsport products for a few years now and the more I use them the more I like the product and the man behind them he is always ready to answer questions and give me more idea's on setups and packages I am building,my lastest setup was a B20vtec engine I did for myself and some friends we used M22x in it and the engine made great power and was sold to a customer before we had even finished tuning it on the dyno.

They are both great cams, but i've only had personal experience with the M22's. They idle great, and not once have i had a problem with them. I say go with rockets. That way your car can "3,2,1, blast off"ahah
on me if that was a stupid joke
on me if that was a stupid joke
I have had M24xs in my 2.2L LS/VTEC for over a year and they pull ridiculously hard through the entire power band. At idle there is the faintest lope, like a cammed LS, but VTEC hits hard enough to make the engine sound completely uncorked, and it pulls until it his rev limiter. We're estimating my motor is making around 225-230whp@9500 rpm. Its enough to make a del Sol leave an EVO and an STI. I proved that without a tune. Dyno will come in April when I get my ITR tranny in and I am legally allowed to run the car again (damned Anchorage Seasonal Vehicle Laws)
damn you guys have seasonal vehicle laws?!!
ive heard many good things about the rocket cams, but dont have first hand experience.
as for the titanium retainers, i run them in my 2.0L gsr motor. i dont daily the car but i put 11K miles in the past year with no problems. seen at least 30 track passes rev limit is 8800
