So here's my problem, my 93 Civic was stolen about 2 weeks ago, they slim-jimmed the door open but there are no signs of any tampering on the steering column or with the ignition switch. Are there some key profiles that are common for the ignition when they cut the keys? Is there thousands of profiles for the door locks but only a handful of ones for the ignition? The main reason I ask is that my ex had a 94 Civic and her key wouldn't unlock my doors, but it would unlock my ignition and start my car. If theres only so many ignition profiles, is there any way to remedy that other than modifying some other makes ignition to work in my car and having to replace all the locks?

Also if any one has a tailgate for a 93 Civic hatch for a decent price in GA let me know. I'm rebuilding it bigger, better, faster, stronger!

Same here, it even open the doors of my brothers 4x4 truck

 

It's not that there are common key profiles (though this was an issue with some GMs awhile back).

The problem is the parts get worn down. That's the key and the lock/ignition cylinder.

Replacing the parts might cause you to not be able to use everyone's key in your locks.
