whats better for turbo
type-r rods
or ls rods?</TD></TR></TABLE>
neither if you are looking to put alot of miles on the motor. but if stock rods are a MUST for your build at least upgrade the rod bolts. Not sure which rod is stronger tho . Eagle Rods are without a doubt best bang for the buck and great insurance on a motor IMO.

There is nothing wrong with stock rod bolts on a stock rod, that's an urban myth that has persisted despite being proven wrong 7-8 years ago. Anything that looks like the rod bolt is the culprit has been gone through and improperly reassembled.
Anyway, I've run 20-22 psi on stock LS bottom ends. If you don't ping at all it holds together, but it doesn't take long for compression to fall off. Stock pistons really don't like it in the long term, and although it's not the rod that goes in my experience you just know it's collecting metal fatigue like crazy. Eagles FTW!

$300 if you look around. $100-150 used. Let a good machinist look at any used rods first, most will charge you $20 or under to scope them over for you.
thanks guys ...
but for now ,should i get ls rod and crank at u-pull for $40 or just keep my type-r rods?

but for now ,should i research the forums for one month or for three months before i even think about buying anything for a turbo build?</TD></TR></TABLE>
You're welcome, and since you've learned you need to do some more research we'll let you decide when you know enough to start on a simple setup. You'll still make some mistakes, but that's a good thing! They won't be the big ones, and you'll learn from them.
