Default Help with valve cover lettering

I want to grind down the old lettering and put up my own and then powder coat it. What could I use for a raised lettering that could withstand the heat and vibrations?

I was thinking you could maybe build it up with that quiksteel epoxy putty. it says it is good for temps up to 500 degrees F. I don't know just how hot the valve cover itself gets.

theres some stuff called alumilite (sp?) its a low temp brazing/welding rod you can use with a propane torch but better with map torch, after you have the letters roughed in you can just shape with some small files or something...

Shot in the dark, mabey use JB weld to do raised lettering. Youd have to make stensiled designes to create the dimensions on that.

Maybe this might give you some ideas!!! You could do something like this:

1. Get a good board (wood)
2. Cut letterings or designs on it
3. Clamp board on valve cover
4. Fill it in with some aluminum molding

Maybe use the stuff like this in this HOME MADE BLOCK GUARD:

You would have to get this stuff heat treated, but you get the idea.

I would weld alu plate to the Valve cover, and then use a vertical mill to cut the material out around the lettering.

that's similar to what i was thinking.have a CNC'd plate with whatever letterign you want, then tack it to the valve cover before powdercoating.i can't see anything handmade looking good.

Depending on the size, a tig bead all the way around may not look that great. You could use a high temp epoxy or even drill holes through your valve cover underneath where the lettering would come and then plug weld the lettering on?
