Default thermostat location...mixed results

okay, i've done many searches on many sites... i've even called a local dealer...

where is the thermostat located on the 1990 accord EXR (us based EX)?

many results say to follow the lower rad hose and it will lead you to the houseing right infront of the throttle body...

other search results are saying to follow the upper rad hose...

i called my dealer...and he said upper...but he sounded hesitant in his voice.

I'm not sure what hose to fallow. Your thermostat is found in the TH housing attached to the intake manifold. That would be the one that is located near the throttle body not on the front of the block.

my 94 lx coupe was in the back, my buddies 89 was as well. eitherway its a 50/50 shot with about 10 minutes to lose and a small amount of coolant. So I'd just pick one and go with it.

keep in mind, when you replace the thermostat...I might have to go in a certain way. Usually there is a little tab on the ring of the thermostat. This tab should be in 12:00 position. Then when installing the gasket, watch the tab. In other words, research how the thermostat goes in.
