im new to this whole ecu tuning thing so bare with me... i understand you need the datalogging cables to hook your ecu up to ur computer, which isnt the problem, but assuming i already have a chip to tune do i need to buy more chips and an (ostrich) emulator, or wideband oxygen sensor thing?

Whats up again. For the basics you'll need a chip burner, the burner1 from xenocrons good (thats where im getting all of my stuff), a wideband and datalog (which you already know). If you your running free version of crome you'll need freelog or datalog program to datalog with i believe (crome pro has datalogging). The emulator will save you from burning a million bin files when your tuning though, lol.

haha thanks dude, all that ***** expensive though, huh? maybe i wont do all of that. haha hey i tried wiring up my vtec light today and couldnt get it to work, i had ground and i spliced my LED (which works) into the green wire w/yellow stripe and nada at vtec...

 

It is expensive, but worth it for a do it your self person, and you dont have to spend as much at dyno if your changing your setup often. Let me run to the garage and check which wire i spliced.

orange and white huh? im gonna go resplice haha. i wish i had a garage to put my del slow in leaving it out sucks.

 

Id hate to do work without a garage, and over here its winter ,lol. But yeah its orange/white, hope it lights up this time.

 

i work in my garage but i live with my daddy so he gets to park in the garage haha yeah the light works this time, i feel kinda gay putting that in but i think its cool haha.

 

lol, i wouldnt have if i could've heard vtec stock. But everyone that sees it seems to like it, and has never heard of it.

 

oh haha some of my friends that have/had civics were like dude ur so gay or my other friend called me a ******, which doesnt make any sense cuz its kinda ricer, i mean it has wiring and stuff haha.

lol ya but if you have the EEprom it makes it less costly just more time consuming.

pretty much hit it on the head. the wideband is for a more accurate a/f reading OP

 

I dont know, the purpose of testing things was good, but now i dont know what to think, its kinda ricer if can hear it and everythings fine. Ill leave mine though, one of a kind ,lol

 

You could also you skip the burner, and leave the emulator in since they practically wont die b/c of battery issues, that'l save you around 110

 

sounds like i gotta lotta research to do... maybe ill just take it to a tuner and have my mess with it, one near me charges only like 65 for a chip and tune, but i was just trying to save money and bought a chip that should have the maps and everything i want on it... thanks for the input i still gotta learn some stuff i dont even know what an emulator does...

 

if there was a way for you to buy the perfect chip without a dyno run or anything, that would be awesome and save you money, but chances are you'll need a tuner to get you the correct tune. Compared to doing it yourself, a shop will be the cheapest route by far.
