Default The game plan

Back again here on honda-tech after my long overdue absence. Still working on my one of a kind/broke like MC Hammer DIY project. What makes it one of a kind you say. Well it seems that anyone with a 7th gen pulls out the small little d17 and drops in a K20. I want to do the impossible. I want to build up this block that don't get the respect it deserves. I sure with some time and money which both I don't have, I'm hoping to pull a respectable 300 for a dailydriver. Yes, thats right I'm on crack. To make matters worse is that I'm working with a D17A6 and hoping for good results. Since this block is designed for a leaner burn I'm hoping that the boost potential would be quite well. Wanting to use the Greddy Emanage or go all out with a standalone unit like AEM(and yes I could use the Emanage as a standalone too) Not sure what size of injectors to use but I know I'm think same as a RSX or maybe step it up some. T3/T4 turbo setup,DEi Ncooler, blah, blah, blah. Currently I have the cosmetic job done...yeah, i'm doing it backwards. AIT Vascious front, bomex style sides and rear,VIS invaderhood, some kind of projectors, other misc.crap, k-sport coilovers, toelinks, camber rods, dynomax header, custom exaust, some Oreileys tip IDK. But it is and always will be a work in progress.

umm welcome? oh just some pointers before you start on your "im on crack" project...

-rsx type s injectors are 310cc's and max out at about 200whp
-no way in hell are you going to see 300whp on emangle. invest in Kpro
-youll have to build internals if you want that amount of power
-no way are you going to hit over 12psi with our plastic intake manifolds (youll have to push more than 12psi on a T3/T4 to reach 300whp)

and one question for you... an automagic or manual?

You can't use e-manage as a standalone. Make sure you do your homework before you start throwing money away.

Or better yet just send me the money you were going to spend into my paypal account.

Yes, I understand that a d17 have been boosted to more than 300whp but I'm going to try it with a a6 unlike an a2. I know there well need to be r&d into the project and many trial and errors but you never know until you try it. How do you think some frankenstein projects get started. Some guys are having a few drinks and one guy asks the what if question. What if you take a k24bottom with a k20a2head and so on. What if you drop a f22 into a silvia(ok that one makes you say wtf but its the same principle and has been done.
internals aren't going to stay stock, hell, what makes it into an a6, compression is the same just have different headers, cat and that damn v-tecE which in part may all have to go. Worst part is debating on a manual or see what happens with the ctv since it's drive ratio to a manual is 5.81 compared to 3.84. Might not hold under boost but won't know until I personally try. Quick question, how hard would it be to change it into a full vtec?

Oh, and the issue on the intake. I was wonder, instead of making one from scratch, is it possible to modify and existing one from a d16zory to work for a d17 and use the 68mm throttle with it. The stock intake does make it a pain when placing on strutbars and some tubes. My c/f hood fits just barely whith the coldair and strutbar but do touch which causes some issues of vibration noise.

yawn, easy to speak your mind. we've had a couple of these "i want 300whp out of my d17" threads, lets see if you actually do it.

You can use the stock intake manifold, just dip it in JB Weld
