im wanting to fix a probelm with my girlfriends car. its a 1998 civic ex 2 door. the passenger side window has been iffy since she bought it. after a little bit it got to where whenever shed roll it up it would make a clicking noise when got to the top like it was still trying to go up even though it was to the top. i took the door panel off and tried to adjust it, but i couldnt see how to fix it. now it wont go all the way it. the farthest itll go is about 1-2 inches from the top. luckily right before it started doing this i bought her ventshades.

i assume its the regulator since it was trying to go up even though it was at the top. i just want to make sure before i drop cash and pull the door apart.

the motor seems to work fine, should i just go ahead and replace it while im at it?

also, wheres the best place to buy a relatively economical quality part? i work at advance auto and we dont even sale them. how about rockauto.com?

And part #s A1471545 and A1471566 - motors

IF ANYONE STARTS TO HAVE TROUBLE ROLLING UP (OR DOWN) WINDOWS IN YOUR '96-'00 CIVIC, STOP ROLLING THE WINDOWS UP AND DOWN!

This is a common problem on these cars.

The tracks need to be lubed. Some people have had success with silicone lube spray.

If the tracks become dry, the window becomes difficult to roll up and down.

This causes the regulator (scissors) to bend. There isn't really a way to bend them perfectly back in place, so they'll need to be replaced.

With time, this can cause damage to the window motor (if applicable). Sometimes the motors even seem to burn out entirely.

If the window pops out, it can damage the seal along the top and sides of the window.

Here are all the part numbers for the Honda parts that may or may not be needed.

i agree with you. its just my girlfriends problem is a little odd. it initially started with the motor not wanting to stop going up when the window was all the way up.

now it does that but when it reaches teh top the window always pops back down another inch or so. so the window is never fully closed.

i already have a new regulator and motor set up ready to go in. i just want to replace everything else while im in there.
