changed clutch, car wont start. have spark and fuel wtf
ok so after changing the clutch, i got it put together today. Got all the grounds bolted on, everything plugged in, went to start it up and it wont start. I have fuel and spark, and the battery is still good (puttin out 13 volts) and the motor is turning (i can see my cam gears moving when i try to start it) but it wont start. I did a compression test and found its only building 90 psi of compression (its an ls/vtec motor, my last compression test showed 235psi of compression across all cylinders).
wtf is up? when we changed the clutch, all we did was drop the trans and thats it, didnt expletive with anything. we did take the distributor out to get at the starter though, thats it. I thought i put it on 180 degress off somehow but that didnt make a difference. I did rotate the distributor a couple times, could the timing be messed up from that?
We put cylinder #2 at TDC and took the dizzy cap off and when the #2 piston is at TDC, the rotor isnt pointing at the #2 spot, its pointing right between the #4 and #2 terminal on the cap.
Could the timing be fucked up from that and thats preventing it from starting? please help!!!

yeah first mistake was removing the dist. to get to the starter. there is no absolute reason to do that. the starter is completely accessible without removing anything (except maybe the air filter runner).
now with that being said chances are your timing is off, actually i know your timing is off. being that you moved the dist. around a couple of times. time to break out the helm, haynes, chilton, or whatever manual you have. you do have a repair manual with you, right?

If i recall you cant put the dist. on 180 off. It will sit kinked and look funny if it is. Did you remove the battery terminals to get the starter off? Check and double check everything. Not to many things to mess up doing a clutch. My suggestion, put motor at TDC,install dist w/ rotor pointing at #1,install cap and try again. check ground on thermo housing.

For sure man, these is not reason to take the disp off, check the timing

sorry i typed the wrong thing, we had the dizzy off so that we could get the input shaft into the clutch when we were putting the trans back on.
I know the dizzy wont go on 180 degrees the wrong way, but lets say while it was off, the shaft rotated 360+ degrees, so now its rotated from what it was before but now the rotor is pointing at a different point than it should, could that do it?
I think im gonna try putting it at TDC tomorrow and aligning the rotor accordingly.

and FYI, next time if you have to remove the dist., mark it with some white out. works every time!

well it doesnt matter, i have it set to advanced all the way as thats how it runs best right now, if its retarted at all it runs lke ****. im running on a chipped p28 ecu with hondata s200 on a basemap, gonna get it tuned come spring so that will be fixed then. just need to fix this **** now!!

Actually it cant. If its TDC it should point at no#1. If it spins 360 it will start and stop at same point. The rotor cannot move. Compression at 90psi? Sounds like a belt but how is the question. It sounds way off and not creating compression. Check all your marks and go from there.

got the battery charged and it cranks faster but still wont start. It will only spark on #1, and it only does it for 1 cycle, then theres no spark from any of the wires after that. i jsut dont get it, i drove the car into the garage and now its doing this wtf.
now suspecting something messed up in the harness. when we went to drop the trans we forgot to unplug the vss so that got ripped off the harness. suspecting something else got messed up in the process.
