Default F22 to H22 Trans

F22 tranny will work on a H22 motor rite ? And if so whats a good final drive for a cheap price. I got a F22 trans for free and I wanted to change the final drive in it to suite my H. just wondering if it will work or not. Thanks in advance

well being that he got the F22 Tran for free. I think he could probabably spend some money on the final drive being that he got it for free.

F22 tranny will work. However, the gears are really long. I was running a F series tranny on my H22 for awhile. I would save the money and get an H22 or even H23 tranny. Even the H23 is a bit long on the gears. H22 LSD all the way.

So to run an F22 trans on an H motor is only about gearing? There are no issues with durability and so forth? Because I'm not really wanting all out speed, the car is a daily driver...so taller gears may not be too bad for me....for mileage and lower engine speeds. If I can save a grand on getting the motor only, that wouldn't be a bad deal. Any takes?

So then if your looking to save money why bother getting an H in the first place?

The F that is in your car now is probably more fuel efficient than any H swap would be. If you run an H @ a cruising RPM that it was not built for it could probably end up costing you more in fuel. And swapping out the gears will cost ya too.

Don't go out and get an H22 and bolt it to the F just so you can say you have one. Because you'll get spanked running the possibly VTEC killing long gear F tranny. Then what would people think of your H swap......

Save your money and do a complete H swap with the tranny....

Point taken. However, I wouldn't get an H "to say I have one" or I wouldn't care about getting "spanked" or "what people think". It's not about that at all. It looks like I can get an H22 longblock for somewhere around a grand or so. What's a good F going to run me? And from what I've seen, it's hard to find a good solid low mileage F...just junked ones with god knows how many miles on them...then I wouldn't be any better off than I am now. It looks like JDM places don't have a lot of (or any) F motors just because I guess a lot of people don't want one since it's not a performance motor. And if you want a reman you'll pay out the a$$. So if for a grand or a little bit more I can have a better engine, a little more power, why not? On the other hand, if you can recommend a place to get an F22A6 that's not near the end of it's rope or get the one I have fully rebuilt for under a grand, let me know.

Hey if you can get a swap ready H for 1k go for it. Bolt it up to your F transmission and Bob's your uncle It is swap ready right...OBD1 ECU comes with it and anything else that you might need.
