Default map sensor codes and 3000 rpm rev limiter

i got a 95 civic ex with a 95 dx block and a 2000 ex head on it. it has two codes for the map sensor 3 and 5 i check the computer, the wiring, the map sensor they were all good. even changed the map sensor to a 2000 ex map sensor and once it warms up it has 3000 rpm rev limiter and starts burning gas real bad please help if you know anything thanks

sounds like you are having some wiring problem.

try resetting your ecu, if not then you should look into a vaccuum leak. code 3 is a bad sensor, and code 5 is a vaccuum leak.

What type of ECU are you using? You do any wiring recently? Did this problem just start out of the blue?

unplug the battery for about 5 min (give or take). being that you have tried those, then i would say you have a sensor problem. given that you spent sometime looking at all the vacuum hoses to make sure there is no leaks.

code 3 and 5 are simple fixes.
code 3 is a faulty sensor
code 5 is usually a leak.

if you have a voltage meter, you can go ahead and test the sensor.
under a light laod the sensor should read 1v or slightly lower. 2.5 - 2.75 if under a heavy load.

also, you haven't played with the hose to sensor? common mistakes are hook the hose to the wrong side of the throttle body and mix match wire harness from TP sensor.

oh, nevermind. you have a 95 ex, so the map should be mounted on the throttle body. sorry, i have a 93 civic hatch and i forget that 93 and prior have map sensors mounted on the firewall and not on the throttle body. LOL
