Engine, B16a

I am going to pull down my block to change RINGS alone,
no bearings.
New headgasket and arp head studs.
Can i reuse the stock Rod Bolts?

What do you guys Advise?

 

get some arp rod bolts, they are cheap enough. you dont want a stretched rod bolt to destroy your day... do you ?

 

my mechanic said my engine bearings are good.

do you recommend i change them?
he said there is no need to...

 

for the extra insurance you might as well at least get new bearings......the rod bolt replacment requires sending the rods/pistons to the machine shop to have them pressed in and out etc....

 

the stock rod bolts need to be pressed out?

 

the stock rod bolts do need to be pressed out, but they shouldnt take too much force.

And changing engine bearings isnt for the novice, so if ur engine builder is good than do it, but beware it needs to bo done right.

 

DO NOT USE the stock bolts again. get the right parts... you know this by now.
