Cooling fan barely runs.
About a month ago, my radiator fan wouldn't turn on full speed. It is an aftermarket slim fan, mounted the standard way. It only spins very slowly. sometimes it would spin at full speed like it should, but that hasnt happened in a while. I pulled it and hooked it up to the battery and it works fine. so, it is mechanically ok. I even bought a brand new fan, just in case. It does the same stuff. Which leads me to believe its a relay or something. I checked the fan plug for power, and it gets it, but not the full 12V. I used to be able to force it on by pushing the A/C button and putting the blower on setting 1. that doesnt work anymore. It doesnt even trigger it.
My blower motor also doesnt work below settings 3 and 4. I don't know if that effects the cooling fans or not...
Someone please help. I do a lot of driving in the city, and don't want my car to overheat.
TIA!

do u have it wired up the way the factory one is wired? if so there is a little relay thats usually bolted down someone is the engine bay around the headlights i believe ... and has like a brownish rubber gaurd on it turn the car on and when the fan starts spinnin start tappin the relay and see if it speeds up faster i had the exact same problem if so just replace the relay
here is a link to ebay this is the relay im talkin about i hope this helps

yea it's wired up like factory. There are two relays by that headlight I believe. But I have done a "wire tuck" so I'm not sure which one is which. Do you happen to know the wire colors coming off of it? I had to snip one off one day cuz it was getting really hot and I couldnt get it unplugged. But this was after the problem started.
BTW: In some troubleshooting, I cut the ground wire to the fan, and grounded it to the chasis, and it seems to work that way, which makes me think it is definitely a relay...

this what u prob need for ur blower motor speeds if it is not working on speed's 3 & 4

it is right on top of bower motor box behind the glovebox. not to bad to get to it with a stubby screw driver. lmk if this fixes it or if u need it i have 1 i would sell.

Denny, I installed the blower relay thing, and it now works on 1 and 2, so thanks for that. Havent gotten around to doing the relay yet. Maybe next week. I've been at my girl's apartment all week and they dont like when ppl work on cars.
