Default Recommened Remote Starter Brand

I'm looking to get my g/f's brother a remote starter for his car (its automatic). can anyone recommend a good brand?

in the past i've gone with bulldog security, but the range on them sucks (at least the model i purchased).

I am a big fan of directed's products (viper, clifford, hornet, etc) and have found it ridiculously rare to have problems with the hardware (except some of the paging remotes).

Are you just looking for remote start only or something with an alarm? What type of car does he have?

Again, DEI makes solid alarms and remote starts. For most of them you will needed an added module (689M) for rs on a manual transmission, unless you buy one of the clifford G5 products.

i just installed the Viper 5900SST 2 Way Alarm w/ Remote Start...cost me $500 installed. if you dont want the 2 way pager it'll definitely be cheaper. compustar is a pretty good brand also, my boy has it in his g35...he hasn't had any complaints

i was just looking for a remote starter, not an alarm. he's got a stock auto civic, and he hates having to walk out side to start it. someone would be doing him a favor by stealing his car, my g/f ended up going into autozone and picking up a cheap remote starter for him.
