If you're going to swap it out, go for something good, like the h22 you mentioned. I just don't see the point in gaining 20 hp to lose considerable amounts of torque(b16 swap). I guess it depends on how much you can spend, really.

I'm in the same postition. My plans that im going with for my DA is b20 w/ b16 tranny for daily driving. Im going to build the b20 for a little bit of more power nothing extreme.

why would u guys give him a complicated swap like LSV or b20V this adn that. he wants a strong stock motor to swap in to be reliable. i just throw in a B18C1 GSR motor and put bolt ons. itll be fun power.

If you were to toss in new bearings, ARP bolts, new rings, and a VTEC oil pump, you could swap a B16 or B18 head on that and have excellent power.

Especially with stock parts, VTEC conversions can be very reliable. My B20VTEC is daily-driven 450 miles a week, and sees 7800rpm every day, all stock B20 block, all stock B16A2 head. This setup's going on 9800 miles, no issues.

its stock compression is like 9.0...
its weakness is the rod bolts. you spin it too high aka 8200-8500rpms and KA BOOM!

B18a's are cheap...swap a newer one in, get a set of ARP rodbolts and convert to LS/VTEC. If you have money left over, boost the thing...

H22 is a good choice. The torque is amazing! But just wondering, why not a GSR? Great motors and love boost!
