Custom Cam Issue..
to keep it simple i bought an f22b for my 94 lx accord a couple months ago. when i got the motor i decided i wanted to do something simple to attempt an extraction of a few more hp out of the F. so i got the camshaft reground by Delta Cams.
fast forward to this week...
we put the motor in and it fired up on the first try. but with this cam i can't catch an idle. i've had the valves and timing adjusted with no luck.
so my question is. would it be too risky to pull the regrind cam out and put the stock one back in without jacking up the timing belt? (jumping a tooth)
or should i just play it smart and set the timing from the bottom to the top all over again?
let me know and thanks for reading / input / suggestions & comments.

you mean swap the camshaft for a stock one without removing the crankshaft pulley/lower timing cover and just slipping the timing belt off the cam gear and back on the swapped one?
yes, set the tdc at no.1, pull the cam & cam gear out as one and have another person hold the timing belt in place so it doesn't move out of place. then repeat the removal process to put the stock one back in, adjust the valves to the stock specs and hope for a decent idle.
it's not something I would do. I would take the extra time to make sure it's done right and nothing moves. But thats how I am. I have heard of people trying it that way, dont recall how it turned out though.
well, this would be my second option unless i can get some valve adjustment numbers from a guy who's familiar with this cam. but after all the money i spent to put this motor in i do deserve to see it go for a couple thousand km's. thanks TA

x2?
x2?
I've done a cam gear by slipping the timing belt off, swapping the gear and then sliding it back on. swapping the cam would essentially be the same thing with the obvious added work.
