alright i'm having 2 separate rattling noises. one i hve identified, one is a mystery to me.

the first and less noticable rattle is my muffler, which i'll be replacing soon enough.

the second, loud, obnoxious, annoying rattle noise only happens when i'm driving, not when i idle or rev my engine in neutral at a stop. it sounds like it's coming from my transmission area. it rattles at certain points throughout my powerban, and with different frequencies and volumes. i've had a ripped transmission mount bushing for well over a year, but these vibration/rattling noises have just recently started after i boosted the car. i wish i had a picture to post up of the bushing on that mount, but i dont... i'll take one when i can get my hands on a digital camera. it looks as if the metal is so close together that at certain RPM could cause them to grind together making this rattling that i'm hearing? also, i've heard of something breaking internally (transmission) that can cause obnoxious rattling noises throughout the powerban, but my transmission works perfectly fine aside from slightly worn synchros.

at this point i have been unable to pinpoint the second rattling noise i'm getting and it really pisses me off, any suggestions or speculations? i'd like to get this fixed so i don't draw even more unneccesary/negative attention from police and other people.

 

anybody got any ideas?

 

yeah here is an idea replace your mount and then drive the hell out of it till it breaks more then you will know what your dealing with LOL....or put in a new tranny and forget about it since your syncs are messed up!!

 

Yes, replace the mount...then if it continues it might be the ISB making noise.

 

check your cat maybe?
i just replaced my cat which was rattling and eventually clogged and made my tranny make a hissing noise...

Sorry... minor detail I forgot to mention in my first post, yeah.....

I have a test pipe, not a cat. So that's ruled out. However, I had a cat before the car was turbo'd and it ended up blowing out and some pieces of it got stuck inside my muffler, which is the sound I'm hearing from the muffler.

Still doesn't explain the tranny-located noise though.

As for the mount, I'm freshhhhhh out of car-spending cash until I get paid again at the end of the month (yes, I get paid monthly and that blows hardcore)

edit: also, can an exhaust rattle be causing other things to rattle as well? Also, can an extreme vibration from a rattle inhibit any bolts in my exhaust/turbo system to loosen? I've got flex pipe at the end of my down pipe.
