Default gt25r for d16z6?

I am tryin to plan out and budget my turbo setup. mods to the engine are raceeng block guard, arp head studs, zex 59300 cam and zex valve springs.other than that it is stock with about 10 k on the rebuild

my plans are

spoolin log mani and DP
stealthmode oil lines
SPoolin 27X6.5X3.5 intercooler
rc 440s
TIAL wg and bov

I was thinkin a gt28r would be a good turbo but the gt25r is alot cheaper. I will probably run it on the street at about .5 bar and .7 or .8 at the track. any inputs or suggestoins would be great

Well you won't even come close to stressing the block guard or maximizing the cam with the GT25R. The 25r will fall off before the cam & springs become useful, and won't make enough power to max out the injectors.

The 28r is easily another 50whp with just a few hundred RPM difference in spool, but also will have much more high-rpm power. If you go with the 25r, don't even think about running less than 0.8 bar. Any less and it will feel like a plain NA B18B1.

BTW GT turbos are for people w/o a budget, or at least not a small one. You will only benifit by a few hundred RPM from the GT's design over a normal T-series, and transient response will only be half an eye blink better (0.1 of a sec). You'd be best off with a T3 60trim if you want to come close to maxing those injectors.

50 trim t3/t4 is right up your alley , get the .63 A/r turbine housing so if u plan to build in the future you can keep the turbo. Some guys have taken that turbo to right around 400whp with there built d-motors
