Yes, that round goldish tube. Doesn't have to say "V-TEC" on the motor but there are valve covers that have them I believe the d15B correct me if I am wrong.

You don't feel b/c its a single cam doesn't really pull much. You can barely hear the V-TEC.

You don't need to replace your valve cover. All D16y8 has "HONDA" on it.

if it says y8 on the engine stamp, and you don't have a check engine light, then your vtec is working properly.

The Y8s in the 1.6ELs don't say HONDA. I think they say 1.6L VTEC on them.

All '96-'00 Civic EXes have VTEC and have D16Y8s. You should have a VTEC solenoid and your engine code on the front of the engine should read "D16Y8".

Your friends are just stupid, like most people who are into cars, into Hondas or drive. It's okay not to know, but a person should not go around saying things are fact when they aren't even sure.

I'm not saying ALL Canadian Y8s. I'm saying the D16Y8 that came in the model called the Acura 1.6EL, which is sold in Canada and is based off of the Civic EX sedan.
