Default Ornimental Blown Up Parts

After doing some winter cleaning I discovered I still had one of my old spun rod and forged piston sets. Its no good other than looking kinda cool.

I was wondering, what have you guys done with your old blown up stuff? I'd like to try and do something with this old rod and piston, something like a lamp base, or pencil holder....something ornimental.

Make a lamp, if you have a crank as well. Then use the pistons to act as a support system for the crnak with a light bulb at the top and whatever kind of shade you want.

ive seen lots of mom and pop tool and automotive stores use old parts in furniture...

Often they use pistons from tractors and tanks which are fuuuucccckkkkiiinggg huge.... like 1 ft diameter huge!!!!! can u imagine how much fuel that uses?

We're making a pair of bookends out of my CP pistons.

That crank/ welding chair is a good idea

I have an ashtray made from a piston and sleeve of a 1979 Porsche 930 (911 turbo).

I've been thinking about making a sculpture out of the J35 longblock I have.

Kind of a stray from the original idea of the thread, but the remaining parts were used to make trophies for a local show.

i have a 4.0 V8 bottom end from a BMW. these engines got a lot of blow-by after being run in cold weather over long periods of time (would take some time to explain.) anyways, i was thinking of pulling the crank, rods, and pistons out, steam cleaning the engine, throw on a clean oil pan, fill the crank case with ice, and putting wine bottles in the bores. maybe set it up on an engine stand in the living room. or in the bar in the basement after i get it built.
