oil in knock sensor plug
I recently replaced my knock sensor. It ran for about a week without a CEL. Then it threw code 23 again. Me and SleepyH22 were looking at the connector and it was completely soaked in oil. I took some sillicone spray and cleaned it out real good. So far the light has not come back. Would the oil cause a bad connection, also where could the oil have been coming from. I know the knock sensor is above the oil filter, but how could it be this covered i oil???
Thanks for the speedy reply. SleepyH22 also said the head gasket may be leaking. I did not know it could leak like that and not cause more severe problems. What else would you suggest be done to a motor while the headgasket is being replaced. Motor has probably 80-90 thousand miles. Just did a new timing belt and water pump about 4 months ago.
Well, it is definately not from under the knock sensor, because we also replaced the oil pan gasket as well as the oil filter housing O ring. I figure the headgasket is the only thing left.
