Default Should I insulate my insulate bass tubes?

I am in the process of installing a back seat and adding sound deadening materials in my crx. Also some JDM style bass tubes (for the stock location speaker) are going in. My question is whether I should put sound deadening material on the bass tubes? Or, do I want to keep the sound inside the tube or let it out?
Thanks!

Hmmm... Let's think about that one... If you go inside your house, close all the windows and doors, and yell to someone outside, how well do they hear you?

WTF... Seriously.

And your comparison does not really apply. I am not sealing the tube - there is an opening where the speaker is.
That is the reason I am asking, because I don't know if the point of a base tube is to emit the sound from the whole area or from where the speaker sits.

isn't a bass tube basically a mini sealed enclosure...

i highly doubt that adding extra weight to it would help... its not like you're installing a big sub....

maybe sealing it better, so that there are no leaks... would help by creating a better air spring.. or something like that...

just make sure you secure everything, so that there are no rattles... all your wires, cables, plate, etc.. use some 2xSided sticky foam...

It most certainly does. You asked quite simply "do I want to keep the sound inside the tube or let it out".

If that's not what you meant, then you need to use proper words when asking a question.

Thanks for reinforcing the image that Honda-Tech is full of noobs asking stupid questions.

Me either, really... I mean, we all weren't born knowing everything... (Well, except for FCM. ) But Jesus... When someone asks whether they should keep the sound inside their bass tube, I just can't help myself sometimes..

Yes, I did ask whether I should keep the sound inside the bass tube.... But I assumed that because this is an audio dedicated forum, the people posting would not be so simple minded.... I would not be enclosing the tube completely. The opening is where the speaker is.
B18C_EJ8, buddy, don't reply anymore, I'd like to hear from someone who is not a smart ***.
Thanks.

"tis the season I guess . (I get a lot of screwy questions @ work this time of year). Maybe a better question would be:

Should I add sound deadening material to the sub tube?"

Well since its made a fiberglass you could add a layer to it. It would take away the possible "ringing" effect of the tube.

How well did those bass tubes work out for you? I emailed that guy that makes them, but I haven't heard back from him. His site is still up, but there are no orders "in queue". Does anyone know if he is still making these?
