no you can't use a hid kit bulb. the base is different.

Well it's funny cause on ebay I did a search and found this as a title:
"XENON HID CONVERSION KIT H1/H3/H4/H7/H8/H9/H13/881/D2s "

This lists all the bulbs the seller sells his kits with and YES most sellers have D2S and D2R bulbs for sale (tho most aren't coated like proper R bulbs should be). If you really want the bulbs you should also look for D2C bulbs as this is also the way they are sold but these bulbs use the OE globe style bases (not the wired AMP connectors)...

I do warn you tho, aftermarket hid bulbs even when in the D2S standards can be out of alignment to the point of being useless (like most pnp bulbs) and their life span is highly suspect. There is a guy on Hidplanet who had a set of the 3000K bulbs, he absolutely loved them (I think they were even phillips bulbs) but after I think it was 5months they burned out....

I can't fathom why you would want to use anything higher than 4300K bulbs with a projector retrofit. If it's the blue flicker look you're trying to get, that comes from the projector optics and can be adjusted with minor modifications on some projectors to give a more intense blue at the cutoff.

Otherwise your best bet for 6000K D2S bulbs would be the Philips Ultinons, which typically cost $250 just for the pair of bulbs, and put out around 2400 lumens compared to 3200 lumens for normal 4300K bulbs. So that's triple the price of normal Philips D2S bulbs, and barely more than 2/3 the output.

Not true, the bases are just fine and they will fit perfect.

bro, do not get 6000K D2S, go with 4300K and you WILL NOT be disappointed.

^the bases are indeed different, but might be able to modify them to fit. Phillips makes a 6000k d2r bulb, which can be easily modified to fit a d2s. Like stated tho, I would stick with 4300k. the output will be amazing. once you start going up in color, output quickly diminishes (Beers Law, stating that transmittance is inversely proportional to absorption. As you start getting more blue (increase the absorbancy) you lose output (decrease transmittance)
