Default MAP sensor signal info

Does anyone know what is the output signal given by the map sensor used in, say, my 87 Integra? Is it pressure? If so, linear or log? What is the range?

What I assume it does is to give a pressure reading, say, between 0 and 5V where 5V would be X psi (and I would love to know what X is) and the value increases linearly. And then the ECU would get intake temperature info to then apply gas law and figure out how much air is inside it. But this is me guessing here...
