Default gpassing emissions with punched cat converter?

anyone got through emissions with a punched cat? i failed last time due to no connection the car is a 5th gen with a greddy turbo kit, since the hondata system puts it back to ob1 they have to do the treadmill test, im going to heat the car up a little today up the interstate and take it in and see what happens this time, doubtful it will go through but I will give it a try.

How about you get a cat?

Is 2whp worth kids with 3 arms?

There's no point! The heating up trick is for cars with cats! The additional heat makes the cat better at reducing emissions!

Get a cat.

You didn't immediately fail MD Emissions since your car is no longer OBDII? I didn't think that was possible.

As for the cat, just get a high flow cat.

On the original topic, my G/F old 84 Volvo passed colorado treadmill emissions with a hollowed out cat that had a pipe through it, so with no cat the emissions were still low enough to pass, so why be quite so worried if the cat will help it that much? make sure the car is tuned well and I bet it will pass.

I don't know about MD, but here if they can't connect to the OBD port, they put you on the rollers.

I wish we had that option here. No obd port = no sticker here.

In IL I went to emissions with punched cat on my Civic(didn't know this) and I had about 3x the legal co2(iirc) and 5x the legal hydros. I installed a stock cat and went back, I then had about 1/3 and 1/2 legal std.
I can't imagine passing emissions with no cat.....
Going to be "catting" my DD'er next year. The racecar is going to be E85 so I don't care about the test pipe.

i cant see a decently modern car passing emissions without a cat unless a LOT of time is spent tuning it to reduce output. An 84 Volvo cannot compare those are pretty primitive cars, afaik they were still using mid to early 70s fuel injection technology in that car, and most american cars were still running carbs back then, not close to modern.

I just recently failed earlier this month on an inspection test with a hollowed out cat. After the install of my cat-back, I found that the previous owner had punched the cat out. I passed last year with the same car and same punched out converter and thinking I'd pass again this year... I failed. I assume someone just hooked me up last year. Anyways, I slapped on a CATCO catalytic converter and passed with flying colors.

ppl are so retarded these days, punching out cats on DD cars, when we have plenty of good hi-flow cat options out there and evidence that they don't impede power much at all.
