Default Chooisng the right aftermarket projector...

I juut purchased a plug and play 8000k kit for my car and now I need to find a suitable projector housing. The kit is bi-xenon so the standard projector/halogen housing won't really be used to its full potential. My thought is to use this housing -

My questions are -

Where can I buy this housing?

Is this actually what I need??

Will the high beam look like *** with this projector housing?

Help a noob out...

you can't buy that...

you can only buy the parts... or see if someone is willing to make that for you.

that's a nice setup. It has to be retro fitted. And that shroud goes for around 110 now. Very hard to find.

ohh, and another thing. Unless your 8000k bulbs are D2S or D2R, it's not gonna sit correctly in the projectors

I decided to go with a 4300k kit instead of the 8000k Now I need to find something to put them in. I was thinking the one piece tyc's but the halogen high beam area of the headlight would be useless. Unless a bixenon kit is actually 2 hid bulbs...?

You should just get the black housing headlight available from ebay, they have a clear glass lens and your gonna reseal them anyway so you wont worry about fogging.

What exactly is the kit you purchased? Is it "plug-and-play"? If so, what type of bulb is it designed to replace? Do you intended to retrofit OEM HID projectors in to your housings?

Here's my suggestions

1) Go on ebay, get that black housing headlight with the clear front lense.
2) Purchase some TSX projectors( if you're low on budget)
3) Get some ballast
4) Get some 4300k phillips or osram D2S bulbs
5) Do a retro fit.

Ps. I have TSX Clear Lense projectors for sale.. 160 shipped. And this is not why I suggested to buy TSX in #2. They are just cheap, and a bang for it's buck IMO.

If you wanted the one peice, then you could just buy a single xenon setup for low beam and use halogen for your highbeam. People do bi xenon because they use a OEM style headlight where the bulb use to have highbeam with low.

I purchased a plug and play kit with an h4 bulb. I'm not looking to do a retro fit at this time - maybe in the future. Right now I'm just looking for a decent projector housing setup to work with the pnp kit I have.

i suggest you sell your kit...

and just run Osram Nightbreakers or Phillips X-Treme...

NONE of the aftermarket headlamp housings that have projectors, use halogen H4 Bulbs.

They normally use H1 for the highbeam, and H3 for the low beam. H3 is not a good bulb for low beam use, they are normally used for Foglights only.

Not only that, but aftermarket headlamps, except for the tyc, use pretty shitty halogen projectors, the output sucks in general...

Do it right, or don't do it at all.

H4 bulbs are dual-filament for reflector housings only.

Projectors use 9006 or H7 bulbs, sometimes H1 in aftermarket projector headlights, or H3 bulbs if they are fog projectors (or POS projector headlights). None of those bulbs are dual-filament.

Projectors are designed to be low beam only, unless they have a movable shield like bi-xenon HID projectors. In that case, the bulb is stationary while the shield in the projector moves out of the way to allow the light to project upwards above the normal cutoff line.

I suggest doing some reading in the HID university section on the HID Planet forums.
