valves
do you know where i can find valves? and how many do i get for a D16Z6 ? is it worth it to replace? How much would it be? i dont hav the money right now to buy a new motor though im trying to look into it? any advice on thAT like where to look?
i haven't moded anything yet. the mechanic that put it in my 91 dx hatch never checked the timing belt when he put in the engine and around 120000 miles it broke..a couple of the valves bent a little he said...the car runs and is smooth after about 2000 rpms but i need to replace the valves before it blows right now it just has a rough idle

I'd be happy to help you either if you want to fix the valves in this head or get another. What will work best for you is up to you.

Well, i live in Maryland and i realize most people on here live in California. Is it hard to do on your own? I am learning this stuff as i go i built the car from the body up. It's a del sol in a hatch body. A mechanic put the engine in but i had to do all the inside and all. I've learned a lot and so far found success. Everything would be fine is the mechanic wasn't an idiot. Anyways, how much would a new head cost and is that all i need? the head? do u kno someplace i can find it?

Are you in a rush or no? If you arn't build the head yourself and learn
A new z6 head wont be more then 250 complete. You can get them in the marketplace.

if you are looking at just a stock rebuild do that if you want to add power or mods it's great time to do it.

Aww Max, you're such a nice guy.
To the OP, i'd really recommend taking some time to learn about your cylinder head. you can do most things yourself with some simple and inexpensive hand tools if it is salvageable. this will help you diagnose any further issues you might have with it as well as give you a much better understanding of whats going on up there. The only thing you'd have to pay a machine shop for is to mill it ( make the surface where the cylinder head meets the block true and flat for proper sealing ). You can do 95% of the work yourself tho... dseries.org should be able to help a bit

You have one of the more desirable D cylinder heads. Just clean it up and get it running like new, thats the best way to go IMO.

If you want more power out of it, a cam head work and valve train is in order.
All depends how much $$ you have to play with.
You could swap to a y8 head but I'd say keep a z6 if you are going to stay D even if your head is shot get another z6 imo.
