Valve tick
I just got my valves adjusted on my 98 Civic EX has D16Y8 engine I come home and it ticks WAY worse than when I brought it in. When I left they told me my timing belt was loose as well and that I need to get that fixed he said it was fine to wait and do it myself. I'm thinking there's some foul play, how bout you?
What do you think the problem is now? Do you think something is damaged?

The valves need to be adjusted when the engine is completely cold. I'd wait until the weekend, and then check the valve clearances yourself, as well as investigate the timing belt.
Sorry if this is off topic but cant you just wait like 1h for cooldown (valve adjustment)if you only drove like 10 min ? thats what my mechanic told me... for example my car is off whole night then i go to his house 10 min away and wait 1h to cooldown.

Yes, they should, assuming they are competent. However, what you've told us so far does not makes me wonder about the shop. Was this a dealer or an independent mechanic?

I'd rather wait longer than that, even after a 10 minute drive. Ten minutes can be enough time for the engine to reach operating temperature, after which it will need nearly as much time to cool down as it would if it had been running for an hour.

It depends on whether the valve adjustment is indeed set to improper specs, and how bad the adjustment actually is.

It was a shop. And competent? The service writer told me that it should have 2 belts, one for a balance shaft and the mechanic standing next to him was like, "yeah there's another one of those in back and it has 2 belts." this was when I picked the car up and what started me parinoia. I have always been very parinoid of shops. I feel like I have been bit in the ***!
