Default r18 and craked block

I heard that already 20+ r18 blocks cracked and some of these blocks were Never abused. Thats insane. Warranty will cover it, but just the short block. Hope this doesn't happen to me. hehe

there was a report of bad casting at the engine factory. It has beed fixed and will give you a new engine if yours is indeed cracked

So does this only affect 06 & 07s?

We've only seen (2) such cases of this happening at my dealership.

I seriously doubt it's some kind of epidemic.

I have a Cracked Block on my 2006 civic. No mods or abuse. I have 60,700 miles on it. Warranty on power train is for 60,000. Hopefully they will take care of it for me. Where did you get your information about the other cracked blocks?

It was a problem with SOME early 06 R18 engines. Problem with the casting of the block.

One of the guys I know had to have his block replaced.

jcwilcox...
What is the manufacture date of your civic?
It can be found on a sticker on the drivers door jamb.

There was a class action extension of warranty

http://www.automotivedigest.co...21848

5% increase in warranty mileage....
which equates to 3000 miles ......

so you should be covered until 63,000
