You're going to get a k20r swap for $500? So you're making him pay ~$5000? If you want to be fair, have him pay for the rebuild. If you don't care about his money, get the r.

I would only suggest the k20a if you want to go all motor route other then that i really see no reason to really get a k20a. I mean yeah it's JDM motor and it's awesome from factory specs but if you plan on doing more like boosting the k20a later down the road or rebuilding it then you'd be kind of going backwards because of the high compression and you could of already had your motor built with the a2. if you want boost later then i'd go with the rebuild.

when you start rebuilding a motors internals for boost or all motor it really doesn't matter at that point if it's JDM or USDM.

agreed, thats fed up if you make him pay 5000k for a new motor, do you even know what wrong with it? you should get some quotes on fixing it first? i mean it cud be something thats minimal. i wud be pist if my cousin were just like your buying me a jdm motor when you dont even know what the damage is.

get the k20a.

you only live once, i don't care how your brother got his money LOL.

if you're planning to stay all motor, get the k20a.

sell your k20a2 swap or keep it as a spare and build it.

Low compression on the A2 and boost later. Much more potential with a built motor. And there is also a little more reliability with haveing the motor rebuilt because if you trust the person doing the work then you pretty much know it will be similar to a NEW motor... not a used motor that you have no clue about how it was treated in its previous vehicle! Just my .02

Just get a k24 instead. it will have more potential than a k20a will anyways. More torque = fun

Unless you are going to boost your car then I say just go with a rebuild and build it with low compression pistons. You car will seem weaker after the rebuild though until you get your turbo kit installed due to the lower compression pistons
