Default Can you tune with J&S safeguard?

I am just curious. After all the talks about this topic I am contemplating getting a J&S over a FJO wideband. Can you effectively tune your car with the J&S?

Yes you can. You do the old, "go leaner/advance timing, back it off when you get detonation" routine with no fears.

However, I think that you can also end up with an overly aggressive tune, since you're tuning your A/F ratio and timing to be just this side of detonation. Using a wideband 02 sensor will let you confirm the safety of the tune.

FYI: I tune with a J&S.

Hehe I tuned with my J&S... and then I put a wideband on and realized I was running like 9.8:1 AF ratio. Wideband is a far better tuning tool, but J&S is certainly something useful to have while tuning.
