Default Rod and Piston Wrist pin?

Hey all, I heard from a few people that pre 96, all honda pistons and rods were held together with a wrist pin and "c" clip and when removing them all you had to do was remove the "c" clip and the wrist pin would slide out. Correct?

The reason I am asking is I have a set of Scat H beams and a set of Nippon P29 pistons with new pins, but no "c" clips. With this combination will the pistons and rods have to be assbled in the shop with a press fit or can I DIY this with some "c" clips if indeed the above is the case.

P.S. I searched this, hence the question. Clarification needed.

Thanks,

Ryan

I have never seen a stock Honda car piston/rod that was full floating. They have all been press fit pins.I'm guessing your Scat rods are designed for a floating pin (bronze bushing in pin end) and your pistons don't have a groove for a clip. You need to have a groove machined in the piston of buy pistons that have a groove (any aftermarket forged).

All the older ones are press fit. The new r-series are floating

your guessing an after market rod is free FLOAT.why wouldn't be do you really
think they would want you to heat the dam rod up after you just paid 3-700 bucks
