Default Radiator mounting picture thread......

Im reaching the end of being able to use my half width radiator on the civic, with full-race's "backdoor" intercooler and the gt40r where it is, i cant fit an integra radiator in place.

I cant really be chopping the front end off- so i was wondering if anyone has fabricated a larger radiator in place (with a full size intercooler up front) or mounted their radiators in crazy places (in the boot / rear quarter panel .etc)

Any pictures (even non-honda) would be appreciated

this was my first setup from a few years back. my goal was to mount the intercooler without triming the bumper rebar... which i achieved. safety first!

Is that a tru cool oil cooler? If so, it will crack and leak mounted like that.

I made this setup for my backdoor FMIC, but had to cut 2 rows off the radiator and recap the end tank.

That radiator alone wasn't enough to keep my motor running as cool as I wanted it, so I added a second outside of the engine bay and to add more fluid in the cooling system.

I plan on redoing the exhaust manifold and go back to a single fuller size radiator for next year though.

heres my current set up, its no where as clean as these other guys, but this is my first project car and im learning.

i really wanted to make it look like its mounted in stock location, but there was just not enough room between the dump tube, and the metal "houseing" around the head light

Those are some really good ideas, some very neat fabrications too

I really like this idea, i wonder how much air travels over the radiator compared with one the same size mounted straight into the airflow...

How well do your setups work= in harsh conditions, hot days - reduced airflow (sitting still.etc)??

Thanks for your replies guys!

I had to do something like that too to clear the wastegate and downpipe. Stupid radiators getting in the way of all the important stuff.

In the summer I was able to get my temps at idle, with both fans on down to 205* not moving. I also had my thermostat drilled with 3 1/8" holes in it too. Now that it's colder out, it takes a bit longer for the car to get up to proper operating temp at the track, so I think I'll be putting a regular thermostat back in.

I see, how were the radiators plumbed in, in series? Did you have any air problems?

They were in series. From the water pump outlet: I went into the side radiator at the top of the rear tank (seen in pic, in front of wheel), then exited out the bottom of the front tank, ran that line over to the bottom tank of the main radiator, and then came out the top tank to the thermostat housing.

There weren't any air entrapment problems that I'm aware of, but I did keep that in mind while placing the AN fittings in their locations.

Man that is what I call a back door I/C. Everything looks very smooth instead of square like others...
