Aftermarket intake's new MPG
So a while back I put on an aftermarket SRI with an AEM Dryflow filter & it has actually REDUCED the MPG.
I would get about 22 city on the stock drop in filter. I am now getting about 18-19 city.
Any ideas why this happend? MPG is ususally increased.

Who told you that? Colder air = less mpg but more hp.

Who told you that a SRI = colder air? An SRI aka warm air intake draws air from within the engine bay (hot air). The stock intake, while more restrictive, draws cooler air. Cooler air does not mean less mpg, it means a more dense charge.
To the OP: The warmer intake temps could be the cause of the decreased mpg. Also, people tend to drive their cars a little harder after adding a new performance part. This could also be a contributing factor.

I don't drive it harder, I know that for a fact.
I rarely hit over 3k RPMs. I drive it very easy.
Even though it's warm engine bay air coming in, wouldnt it be better than the stock box because its not restricted?
I dont understand this.
very odd.

Actually I read somewhere that the AEM dryflow is more restrictive than the regular paper filter. But it does absorb or traps the fine dust really well. To trap this, of course you need smaller holes, so more restrictive... Reset your ECU and see if it helps. Get things adjusted.
I have the old AEM filters, cotton gauze type. I've been revving it high all the time. My fuel gauge won't go down... So weird. I've been doing this for a week. Went down like .2 of a cm in 1 weeks time.

Interesting, Kid.
How do i reset my ECU? Is that where you turn the car on to the ACCESORY position and hold the "Reset" button?
And is there a chance of harming anything by doing this?
