if it leaks internally inside the distributor you eed to replace the distr assembly you cannot get the inner shaft seal
if outside leak at bottom of distr yep like touring said cheap fix

how would u kno if it is leaking internaly? im asking because i think i have a oil leak coming from the dizzy too.. its real wet under the distributer
if you have a napa auto parts near ya and your old
dist. is leaking oil bring it to napa and get yourself a rebuilt DIST. cost me 190 bucks from napa. they will also want your core. Also if I were you i would keep the ignitor from your
oem dist. thta **** cost 240 bucks from
the dealer, napa does not check the core

you would know because the inside of the distributor would have oil in it. If you have oil leaking and is on the bottom of the distributor cap/housing but the inside is dry then it's just the o-ring. If you are leaking oil and it's not only on the bottom of the distributor cap/housing but also inside the distributor then you'll need a new distributor.

well if the ignitor isn't included in the rebuilt unit from napa then I see no reason you would have to supply one with the core. You should only have to supply with the core what you are receiving in parts.

In your first post you said you saw "some grease/dirt" on the cap. Is there any oil? If there's no oil it's just dirty, wipe it with a cloth and call it a day. You only need to replace the o-ring if there's oil on the bottom of the distributor or cap. BTW, you'll know if it's oil. It will be wet not grimy.
