I suppose it could be the oring. #11 in this picture. You would have to pull the dizzy out to check it. Click on the link below.

That O-ring would leak outside the distributor. The oil would seep out & run down the side of the head.
Oil leaking INSIDE the distributor cap would come from a seal on the distributor shaft. You can't really get at that seal & replace it. Unfortunately, that means it's time for a new distributor.

Agreed, but instead of buying a whole new dizzy, you can buy just the housing for about 150ish, and swap over all your old parts. That's what I did, the housing is very cheap compared to a whole new dizzy.
