If anything you should feel stupid for using 89 octane all this time and poisoning your prelude.

Firstly, it will run fine on 89 gas. I always use premium but thats for the bishes. They love guys who use premium gas. IDB FTW.
Don't get down on yourself like that, its pitiful.
More octane != more fuel
To run rich, you need more fuel, not more octane.

I have a 97 Lude, Does it have a Knock Sensor too? Ive ran 89 on it the day i bought it like a jackass, i was so excited i didnt even think about pushing the 91 button. but my baby always get premium fuel and ever three months i add Performance Improver from amsoil and it runs like new. but im jjust curious does my 97 have a knock sensor.
Thanks Viper Boy. Ill still never run 87 or 89. always 91. i wish i lived in florida... ide run 93. does VP Racing Fuel Make an Equivalent, i wanna see how she runs with a little better Octane.
higher octane does not necessarily equal higer performance. like was stated above, the higher the octane rating, the higher the resistance to detonation. for maximum performance you should run the lowest octane that the car was tuned to run on (minimize detonation)
race gas in a car tuned to run on 91 will get you nothing.
