what do you guys use to screen your turbocharger with instead of a filter just a screen?

Default what do you guys use to screen your turbocharger with instead of a filter just a screen?

OK I have been through 2 slim fans and they quit working on me. So I have my stock fan back on now but its open with no screen or filter. what do you guys use to use this on your turbocharger?
I was thinking of window screen would this work
also could someone post pics of there screen they made.

some type of metal mesh type screen works well. Honestly there are lots of filters out there that can fit most applications. If its a daily driver i would not recommend a mesh screen unless its absoultly necessary.

well its a dd but I am waiting on my slim fan to get back and so the stock radiator fan is in the way so I cant put a filter there. I was just wondering would it be ok if I did something like a screen but what do you guys use to do yours

Have you ruled out making a tube that can accomodate a filter like on the greddy kits.

you cant put a tube there because the radiator fan is like right next to it like a 1inch so basically you cant do anything with a tube or filter there.

mesh filter will be the best bet then. A picture would tell everything though, but nothings impossible

i picked up some heavy fiberglass screening material from Menards and used that....you can get the same thing at Home Depot, Lowes, etc...its like $4 for a whole roll...

I had old k&n filters lying around so I cut those up and used the metal screens they use to enclose the filter cloth.

the real question is why have 2 slim fans failed on you? did they just wear out or what?

exactly. my 1st slim fan went out because the heat from the manifold melted the wires. it was too close to the base/motor for me to fix so i just bought a new one and heat wrapped em...

I use an aluminum screen covered with a few layers of pantyhose or legging material. It works great.

You really should use stainless screen as the aluminum screen will eventully tear and get sucked into your compressor wheel.

exactly what I was looking for something like this. I wasent sure if people used pantyhose or not but that link someone on here that sent me a link to xenocron
I would like to get something like that to.

oh and by the way about the slim fan my tuner the way mine is set up is the tuner made my fan stay on all the time when my car is running and I took the fan out and nothing is melted but where the positive and the ground run to the fan its loose and well I sent it back.
