I have 99 gsr. about 3 weeks ago my car stopped downshifting from any gear into 3rd unless i touched second first. Previous to this i have not had a single issue. Then after about a week of no down shifting it just started working. Immediately after i was able to downshift i started to notice a slight low rpm grind on the upshift into third. If i shift very slow it wont grind.
And now the most recent problem is my car popping out of 3rd gear under light load and low rpms. Every day i drive it it gets worse and its not an every time thing.
I have changed trans fluid with honda MTF and done a flush on it.
If i hold my hand on the shifter even so slightly it doesnt want to pop out at all.
I have done nothing new recently. I have had new mounts and a clutch in my car since march and poly shifter bushings since august.
Its probably a combination of things

Syncro for the grind, bent fork for the not shifting down into third, and denten ball or spring for popping out of gear?
a possible bearing failure on the countershaft too?

More than likely it's just a syncro. Depending on mileage, I'd do the bearings while you're in there, mine started to go bad at around 150K on my '96 GSR.
Put in a Quaife or ITR Limited Slip Diff. too if you've got some cash to spare. Best mod ever

Im not saying im an expert, but regaurdless of rev matching double clutching hell even turning the car off. it would not shift down from 5th or 4th into third

I know for a fact the syncro is causing the grind, my concern is that the syncro might not be the only problem

My bad, I didn't realize it wouldn't go in even when the car was off. Yeah, that could be a shift fork.

It can still be a part of the synchronizer assy that's preventing it from getting into gear.
I've got money on the synchro sleeve that's causing all of the problems. A bent or out of tolerance shift fork is secondary to the synchro sleeve.
Replace the synchro set (consists of: synchro hub, sleeve, ring, and spring), 3rd gear, and then the shift fork and spring pin if necessary.
Check all of the bearings for noise, play, and binding. Replace as necessary.
