carbon on valves and spark plugs

carbon on valves and spark plugs
i pulled my head off in june to get it ported and polished and there was a ton of carbon on my valves... i didnt think anything of it and tried to clean it off... then i pulled my head off again like 4 weeks ago and there is a ton again.. and now its on my spark plugs too... i was just wondering what might be causing it and if its bad
