Default New Emissions Tests Using OBDII port

I just found out in GA that they are using the OBDII port as part of the emissions testing. Not only can you fail due to what is stored in memory, but if there is not enough data in memory you will fail also. I guess that rules out any stand alone for those of us with OBDII in GA.

How can they do that? What if you were without power and changed your battery and data was lost? After you fail, then what? Do you drive around until you accumulate enough data? That doesn't make sense.

If you reset your ECU before you go thru the testing station some readiness monitors will not be set, and you will fail.

I've heard about this too. This sucks because I just moved up here to Atlanta, GA. I have a 99' GSR with an OBDII to OBDI conversion. So it's looking like I'm going to have to convert back to OBDII. I guess it's alright considering I can run OBDII on the EFI PMS.

I had wanted to run Hondata, but looks like with this test I am SOL. Now I have to go piggyback.

Yes, if there is not enough data in the ECU you fail. They tell you to drive around for a couple of days and come back. Pisses me off that I can run cleaner than most of the **** out there but now if I don't have enough data in the ECU I fail, no matter what my scores are. How about doing something useful and cleaning up diesel cars and trucks. Nothing like being behind a city bus and coughing up a long from the cloud of soot.

Yea it is gay. One time I took an optional emission test with a CEL, and I passed PERFECTLY. Then, when I went in to take my official test I failed because of the CEL, and they wouldn't actually test my car. I told them it would pass the sniffer, but they wouldn't let me go that far.

Once I did get the CEL fixed, all I need to do was pass the computer test and I passed completly!
