Default Flickering oil light...

Sup, guys! Was sitting at a stop light the other day, and my oil pressure light started flickering at idle, and went out when I pulled off. Doesnt do it when the engine's cold when the oil temperature is low, just when it has time to heat up after a drive. Sometimes it doesnt go out when the car is revved again, sometimes it blinks. I think it's the oil pump.

The car has 250k on it, and I think its time for one anyway. Should have done it when I put my new head on along with timing belt and water pump. My sending unit is new, but I havent checked the pan screen yet.

I check my oil every other day. And it doesnt burn oil given the high mileage motor. Thats why I left that option out.

WOOOOOO.. TIME OUT HERE........ before you spend money on replacing an oil pump,, I strongly suggest that you chk the oil pressure ..
You need to properly diagnose before you start replacing parts...

engine at normal oper temp ( warmed up ) \\

idle minimum 10 psi
at 3000 rpm minimum 50 psi

if out of specs then i would chk the oil pump

if within specs i would replace the oil pressure sending unit , use a Honda part

Gotcha.

Sending unit is new (bout a couple weeks old, replaced it when I put the head, head gasket, timing belt and water pump on), but its from AutoZone. But after the check, and if everythings ok, I'll pick up an OEM one from Colonial Honda up the street. I'll feel more comfortable.

Update: Pressure checked ok (although a little low at idle). Replaced the AutoZone unit with an OEM honda unit...no more flicker!

Thanks, guys.

Yep
just my 2 cents

for 90-93 accords all sensors must be OEM from honda

or else they just fall apart or burn out within months

just my experience

93 accord LX
