5w-40?? best oil for daily driven turbo hondas?
I have a turbo d16y8 at 8lbs pushing about 200whp....I have been running Mobil 1 10w-30 in it for over 8 months. The car runs great and the oil holds up. The oil concern I have with 10w-30 is the high oil pressure at startup. I always warm up my car for about 2 mins and cool it down via timer for 1 min.
Alot of articles I have been reading have been recommending 5w-40 as a great oil for turbo cars, providing protection as well as withstanding heat in higher rpms...I am thinking about trying it out and seeing how it compares. I expect to gain some mpg as well as seeing lower oil pressure at startup......I ran Mobil 5w-30 for about 2 years and 10w-30 for 8 months being on boost. I think I will try Castrol 5w-40. Any feedback?
