I was installing some colored guage covors on my 90 hatch and broke the fuel gauge needle off, i was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and knows if i have to get a whole new dash or if there is a way i can just replace the needle.

 

did just the needle break off or the part inside? either way, you could try and find a automatic cluster cheap and use it for parts. or look for a good deal on a replacement cluster.

 

If just the plastic needle broke off, go to the junkyard a find one on a cluster and pull it off with a fork or special fork style tool. Put it in your pocket and leave...if you broke the metal pin that the needle sits on, you will need to replace the whole gas gauge piece.

 

i just had the same problem all other gauges came out fine but the gass gauge, the metal piece broke off inside so i got another cluster and it did the same thing - any ideas would b great cant keep ordering them

 

i would simply suggest not using indiglow gauges and then you wont run into issues with needles breaking off.

 

Just buy a new cluster

 

ya i got my si cluster at the junk yard for only 30

 

Glue it back on.

 

its the metal pin inside that broke not the needle itself
