Default High flow cat/test pipe question

I have a 98 GSR and There are two oxygen sensors hooked up to my cat.

For people that use a test pipe, what do you do with the sensors, and do you get a check engine light?

For people that have high flow cats, which kind, and do they have hookups for the o2 sensors, and is there any check engine light?

I used a Random Tech one on my RSX-S and Teg and had no prbs or engine lights. My buddy had a magnaflow high flow on his teg, which was way cheaper and had no probs either.

Go with a test pipe and save your cat to put on if you ever need to pass emissions. If you ever get problems with a CEL you can just throw in a o2 simulator which will pretty much lie to the computer and tell it what it wants to see. Pretty much just a resistor in a fancy casing, so if you know your electrical stuff then its pretty easy, or you can just buy one off ebay.

I had an SMSP Car Sound cat, and it was completely bolt-on with the bung for the secondary O2 installed. There was an occasional CEL, but my understanding is that SMSP is now using improved cats, so it may or may not be an issue.

If you want to run a test pipe, be aware of the potential for sizeable fines if you are caught using it on public roadways.

I live in MA so I don't think there is too much stress from cops about emissions, but what am I supposed to do with the o2 sensors? Should I let them dangle or cap them off or something?

Just install them in the test pipe, if that's the route you plan to take.

go with a highflow cat. i have a 00 gsr and used to run a test pipe. it sounded horrible. I just bought a vibrant universal cat, flanges, and o2 bung and welded it up my self. sounds great with my camp1320 header, and s2 exhaust

I think I'm going to go with a high flow cat. Of the ones mentioned (magnaflow, smsp, random tech) what kind of price range am I looking at? Are these compatible with aftermarket header/exhausts? I kinda want to do everything from the header back in one install.

depending on the header you go with. my headers collector was too long for an off the shelf cat. thats why i had to fab one, my brothers kteller also needed a custom cat. seems like the better headers all have longer collectors

Is a high flow cat going to make a significant difference in terms of power or sound?
