Testing a Blowoff Valve?
How would one test a BOV for proper operation without a turboed vehicle?
Could one feasibly hook a vacuum line up from the car, then use compressed air to simulate boost??

take it for a spin..watch you boost guage..in boost let off the throttle..if you here the bov its working fine..if you hear a rattlesnake sound..spring rates to high and youll need to loosen it up a bit.

The valve shouldn't open if vacuum is applied. It should be easier to open and close the valve with a finger, but it shouldn't pop open....then you are taking in unfiltered air.
On an NA car I'd hook say your EGR vacuum tube to it and plug the EGR for a second. With your finger try to open the valve. You should be able to open it fairly easily with a little pressure. When the vacuum is off the blow off valve it should be significantly harder to open the valve with a finger. After this, the only real test is with a turboed car

I just want to test this thing out... I bought it from a guy on here, and it came and it's beat to ****... Holes worn in the top of the BOV didn't make me very happy...

It depends on the BOV.
Some stay open under vaccum (smarter IMHO)
and that is a good way to test if it is working.
The only other way is install it on a small section of pipe that is capped at both ends. Hook a vac line from one end to the BOV, then put a air hose attachment on the other end. When you fill it with air, do it slowly up to the MAX psi you wish to run to see if it leaks
As some BOV's rely on the pressure on the diafragm to help the valve stay closed under boost; i recommend putting boost pressure to the diafragm side as well.
