Check Engine Light Unplugged?
The engine light is supposed to come on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition, right? Mine doesn't. I'm guessing the previous owner either snipped it or broke the bulb or something cause I've never seen it on (he also failed to mention a bunch of other issues with the car)
Is there a way to check what codes it may be throwing without replacing the light? I was thinking one of those bulbs that you use to detect electric currents, but I'm not sure. I do plan on replacing it but I just want to know asap what codes its pulling.
Car is a 1990 Std converted to mpfi, if you're curious.

if it is an obd1 car then you are supposed to ground out the check engine light wire. pin d4. if its an obd0 just pull the carpet back to expose the computer to see if the LED in the ecu flashes. if it does count how many times it flashes to see if you have a cose. a lot of times people will disconnect the check engine light to mak it seem like there is nothing wrong with the car.
yeah its throwing code 10 (iat) and 14 (iac) which is from the cheap ram intake on it I'm guessing.
Would these make my idle high? It does idle at like 1300-1400 rpm but its fairly consistent (it doesnt bounce really). My guess is that the previous owner made it idle high so it wouldn't bouce.. Who knows. At least its nothing serious.
